Khoral Inc. Awarded Multiple Service Contracts

Department of Defense Awards Second-Phase SBIR to Commercialize Collaborative Software Development Product

Albuquerque, New Mexico, May 1, 2000 --

Khoral Inc. today announced several new service contract awards, generating nearly $1 million in combined billings for the software development company. New Khoral customers include the Internet E-commerce company, E-Stamp; the European Air Traffic Training organization, EUROCONTROL; the University of New Mexico High Performance Computing Center; and the Department of Defense Air Force Research Lab.

"Our strategic plan to leverage Khoral technical expertise is bearing fruit," said Don Bouchard, Director of Sales. "Our staff of computer scientists and engineers has worked collaboratively over ten years successfully developing Khoros(c) Pro commercial products. Their knowledge of software application development and their synergy as a team creates a unique consulting service that adds significant value to both commercial companies and government organizations. Our expanded consulting service capabilities have generated strong contract sales for Khoral."

E-Stamp

Khoral is contributing integrated software development expertise to aid in next-generation product development for E-Stamp Internet-based postage solutions. E-Stamp provides an easy-to-use Internet postage service that enables customers to purchase, download and print postage directly from their personal computers.

VIPER

This Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract, from the Department of Defense Air Force Research Laboratory, funds commercial development to extend Khoros software functionality to seamlessly support collaborative development and component reuse. The resulting system is called Visual Interactive Programming for Enterprise Research (VIPER). Using the flexible code generation system and visual workspace compiler of Khoros, CORBA and Java, VIPER will enable the Khoros visual programming environment and software development tools to fully operate within multi-platform and enable existing legacy systems.

Capitalizing on the extensive Khoros user base in both government and private sectors, VIPER will provide the technology base for the next generation Khoros commercial product: -- a Web-based, integrated development environment for projects involving geographically diverse developers and end users. VIPER technology encompasses two principal markets: (1) software development, with tools for fast prototyping, collaboration, and integration; and (2) data analysis and visualization. The VIPER effort enables Khoral to deliver superior visual programming technology, which allows for faster, more intuitive ease of use and collaborative application development for multiple and distributed work-groups.

Eurocontrol

Khoral is teaming with the Eurocontrol Experimental Center, part of EUROCONTROL, the European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation. Through a service contract, Khoral is developing algorithm prototypes that support the study, design, development and improvement of air traffic control simulation systems throughout Europe.

University of New Mexico

Khoral is actively working with a strategic center of the University of New Mexico -- The University of New Mexico Albuquerque High Performance Computing Center (AHPCC). The AHPCC provides a focus for research and education in advanced high performance computing and interdisciplinary applications and state-of-the-art communications. Khoral is leveraging its expertise with AHPCC’s sister center, the Maui High Performance Computing Center (MHPCC), to broaden the spectrum of activities in education, research and service in high performance computing and communications.
